“Passport offices are not built to receive hundreds of urgent applications every day,” she admitted before Question Hour on Thursday.
The two largest passport processing centers in Gatino and Mississauga have excellent printing capacity. Passports printed in Gatino are shipped to Montreal, about 200 kilometers away.
“Hope this relieves the stress,” she said.
The government has asked ten managers to inform people who will continue to line up at Complex Guy-Favro. The minister said they had spoken to more than 200 people by 10 a.m. on Thursday and should be there until midnight to allocate time to give information to each person.
“Everyone will receive a coupon with an appointment,” she assured, noting that it would be today.
More details will follow.
