The remains of Crystelle Marielle Kauss were pulled out of the Saint-Charles River on Thursday afternoon, 11 days after she and one of her friends drowned in the river.

Authorities initially announced the discovery of a woman’s body in the river at 1:10 p.m.

The body was handed over to Coroner for official identification. The identity of 22-year-old student Kristelle Mariel Cous was not confirmed until Friday morning.

After completing its active search on the river nearly a week ago, Quebec police on Thursday decided to reassemble its nautical unit due to a “window of opportunity”.
