The transaction has not yet been officially announced by the Quebec aircraft manufacturer, but it has been formalized in the Quebec Land Registry. Business jet manufacturers have occupied the space since 2010 and complete aircraft there. These operations were moved to a complex located on Côte-Vertou Boulevard and to the Pointe-Claire Finishing Center.

The sale was expected as part of a cost-cutting strategy by President and Chief Executive Officer Eric Martel in late 2020, months after he took over. He aspires to reduce the industrial footprint of the company, which has focused on business jets after exiting commercial aviation, as factory capacity outstrips demand.

“The money has already been received and is already included in our financial forecast,” Bombardier spokesman Mark Masluch said.

Located on Percival-Reid Street, the hangar has an area of 80,000 square feet (7430 square meters). In total, the land covers an area of 154,000 square feet (14,300 square meters). SkyService already exists near Montreal-Trudeau. It operates five points of service in Canada and another four in the United States.

Bombardier still wants to reduce its footprint on a massive 4 million square foot (371,000 square meter) site in the Montreal borough of Saint-Laurent, home to a former Canadair factory.

In 2024 the company could retain only 40% of the land.
