Joe Ortona, President of the English Montreal School Board (CSEM), as Municipal Councilor in the C కోట్te d’Ivoire-Greece borough, along with Denise Coder’s team, for the Together Montreal Party.
Mr Orton was presented by Leader of the Opposition Lionel Perez as “Defender of English-speaking organizations” at the town hall on Wednesday.
For seven years as president and commissioner of the EMSB, he opposed Law 21 on state secularism, which did not apply to English-speaking school board employees following a Superior Court ruling last April. He also opposed the abolition of school boards.
Two other candidates have been nominated for the CDN-NDG Baroque: Restaurant and Chef Ashley Thornton, and Financial Specialist Dimitra Costerides.
Lionel Perez is running for mayor of the borough for the ensemble Montreal.
“The English-speaking community also needs a representative,” said Denise Koderre.
“In the borough, we are fed up with conflicts, we’re tired of paying legal fees,” he said, referring to the fights between the borough’s Mayor Sue Montgomery and the commission des municipalities du Quebec on Tuesday asking for 11 days of its suspension due to 11 ethical violations.
