Canada-US border: Demanded to start immediately

Premiers of Saskatchewan and Alberta, along with the governors of North Dakota, Montana and Idaho, called for the immediate reopening of the border between the two countries for the movement of civilians and goods.

Scott Moe and Jason Kenny, along with governors of neighboring states, sent a joint letter to Doug Burgham, Greg Zionfort and Brad Little to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and US President Joe Biden.

“As leaders of the states and provinces that form the border between the United States and Canada, we want the two countries to work together to reach an agreement that will allow the flow of citizens, goods and tourists between our countries. The two countries now,” we read.

The five leaders particularly considered the vaccine’s claim high in both countries.

“Because the two countries have high vaccination rates, we can now safely reopen the borders,” the Alberta prime minister said on Twitter Friday evening.

The vaccine campaign has grown further in the two Canadian provinces, where Alberta reported that 62% of its eligible population had been fully vaccinated by Thursday, and 61% of adults aged 12 and over at the time of assessment were Saskatchewan. Friday.

In the United States, 45.9% of North Dakota residents aged 12 and over received their two doses in their latest update Thursday, compared to 45.4% in Idaho and 48% in Montana, according to their shared balance sheet on Friday.

“We must take our personal responsibility by vaccinating the citizens we want, reducing mitigation measures that cause financial loss and promoting travel for business and tourism,” the premiers and governors continued.

Ottawa announced Monday that it would allow fully vaccinated Americans into Canada from Aug. 9, while the United States decided Wednesday to extend the land border closure until Aug. 22.
