COVID-19: New Brunswick reports 52 new infections

Currently, there are 574 active cases in the province.

New cases in schools, daycare and nursing homes

Yesterday, in Zone 4 (Edmundston), a positive case was confirmed at St Mary’s Academy, while another was confirmed at Ecole St.-Jacques.

Until yesterday, daycare centers Les pits trésors de Steph (Drummond), Garderie Au rêve des anges (Edmundston), and Valley View Kids Care (Grand-Sault) each detected a new positive case of the disease.

Today, a COVID-19 positive case is reported in each of the following day cares: Gordori au Roeum enchant “T” (Kedwick), Daycare Center Educationless Pets Pass (Saint-Quentin) and Daycare Center Educationless Pets Pass 2 (Saint-Quentin) ).

Yesterday, in Zone 5 (Campbellton area), Les Debroillard’s Daycares (Wall-d’Amour), and Jesse’s Little World (Eel River Crossing) each reported a new case.

In addition, 15 senior care homes were affected by the prevalence of COVID-19 cases.

Affected areas: Harvest House (Monton), Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes (Bathurst), Manoir Bryce de l’Oasis (Bathurst), Foyer Lillian Ayulet (Campbellton), Sugarloaf Manor (Campbellton), Campbellton Nursing Home (Dumbl), Campbell Nursing Home (Sockville), Toby First Nation (Nicot‌kuk), Residence Alloyte (Dippe), Villa Sormani (Robertville), Villa des Chutes (Grand-Salt), McLeods Too (Bath), Victoria Glennor (perth), Perth View Manor (Heartland) and Residence Le Royal (Bathurst).

The third dose of the vaccine

The provincial government has announced that a third dose of the mRNA vaccine will be given to people who are moderately or severely immunocompromised due to a health problem or medical treatment.

“People who are not immune to this can reduce their immune response to the COVID-19 vaccine,” said Dr. Jennifer Russell, chief medical officer of health. “The extra dose gives these individuals the opportunity to develop a better immune response, which provides them with better protection.”

The recommended interval for the administration of a third dose of an mRNA vaccine for immunocompromised individuals is at least four weeks after their second dose is given.

Currently, 78.4% of the New Brunswick population is fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
