UFC President Dana White has revealed her immediate plans for Khamzat Chimaw, currently the hottest prospect in the UFC.

Chimaw broke UFC’s four-event performance at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi last July, winning a pair of breakout victories over John Phillips in the middleweight and Rice McKee in Welterweight in less than two weeks. Since then, fighting fans have been dying to find out what happens after him.

According to White, the promotion is working for Chimaw on September 19 at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas. If he wins it, they hope to pair him with BJJ Ace and longtime welterweight rival Damien Maya when the promotion returns to Fight Island later this year. That match was Dagestani’s first in Sweden Rank enemy. It also serves as Maya’s retirement fight, as he has recently been flirting with the idea of hanging up his gloves.

“He fights here and he fights on Fight Island,” White said of Chimaw after the UFC Vegas 9 weight-ins on Friday (via MMA Fighting). “This guy wants to — I love it. I love that mentality.”

“We are fighting for him here [in Las Vegas], It’s still working, ”White said. “But we’ve talking about him and Damien Maya on Fight Island.”

While White did not reveal with whom the UFC plans to match Chimaw on September 19, the Brazilian publication Combate reports that he will match Gerald Mirchert.

Khamzat Chimaw is currently 8-0 perfect as a professional mixed martial artist, and is seen by many as a future champion in both welterweight and middleweight.
