The user list of the Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSS) in Laval is related to a data leak, exposing information from the Cité-de-la-Santé Hospital , the René-Laennec Outpatient Mental Health Center and 9,000 patients. CLSC.
The security breach was apparently discovered at Sigma Research, a firm conducting the survey on behalf of CISSS. “The organization has corrected the error that led to this leak,” CISSS announced on Wednesday.
As of Wednesday afternoon, a survey by Segma Research identified 9,000 affected customers. “CISSS de Laval provides lists with more than 100,000 users,” explains Marie-Eve Despatie-Gagnon, CISSS de Laval Communications Advisor.
Data related to consumer information consulted at one of the CISSS centers during the period July 1 to December 31, 2022.
“Personal information may include first names, surnames, telephone numbers, reasons for contact, services received, date of service provision and file number of users affected by this cyberattack,” the CISSS underlined.
At the hospital level, the leak affects patients who consult the emergency room as well as surgery, medical imaging, mental health, or outpatient clinics.
Regarding CLSCs, these are patients who received home care and services or went to COVID-19 vaccination centers.
“We are aware that this situation may cause concern and we take the situation very seriously,” the CISSS admitted.
