No action was taken by class action members to ascertain law firms such as Siskinds Desmoules and Kugler Condestin in communication to affected clients.
They will receive a notice by July 21 explaining how to file a claim.
“Personal information leaks in Desjardines will enable all affected people to complain, regardless of their place of residence. Members of the group can claim compensation for the time loss caused by the leak of personal information, as well as in the event of an identity theft, ”the communication said.
The maximum compensation for members provided in the contract is $ 200,852,500.
It offers two types of complaints.
Members who receive communications informing them that their data may be stolen from Desjardins are entitled to a maximum claim of $ 90.
Victims of identity theft after January 1, 2017 can claim a maximum of $ 1,000.
