The CAQ’s star candidate, Bernard Drainville, was quickly on the defensive yesterday at the first election debate set up in Lewes.
The former PQ minister and former radio host arrives behind his lectern with files and double-sided annotation sheets. As he is quickly targeted by his opponents, he has all the advantages of appearing well-prepared.
Mr. Drainville does not live in Lewis, who has been criticized by Conservative candidate Karin Laflamme from the start. But he will be there for Lewisians, he promises.
Caquist has also been criticized for inciting criticism and public outrage. “We’re not on the radio here, this is an official debate,” Solidarity candidate Valerie Coyotte-Guillotto released. Drainville acquired it after anti-oil development sympathizers thought they wanted to shut down Valero. This teacher is very concerned about the effects of climate change on future generations. She is not wrong to argue that young people, for the most part, “have a very different speech than what we hear today.”

The last part, on mobility, led to several delicious exchanges. Despite the absence of CAQ candidate studies, CAQ is asking the public to exercise confidence in the tunnel project.
We had to wait until the end to see a candidate put his recent declaration on GHGs under Mr. Drainville’s nose. “No, we won’t let you go with GHGs,” assured the QS candidate.
For Richard Garron, a former member of the Canadian Forces who represents the PLQ, the debate is skewed toward mobility issues comparable to Asterix’s 12 works. He emphasized that politics has nothing to do with engineering and one should believe in education.
Further retiring, PQ Pierre-Gilles Morel pointed out that the estimated location of the tunnel did not reach enough people.
Some discomfort
The conservative candidate, former president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lévis and former municipal councilor in the team of mayor Gilles Lehoulier, caused some discomfort.
Ms. Laflamme had to admit that she was unfamiliar with the concept of supply management. Then, according to her, a tunnel passing through Île d’Orléans would make it possible to “make local products better known”. Not less.
