It is the day after the scheduled deadline for the set of measures enacted by the decree.
“The Government of Canada maintains the ability to restore certain border measures in the future to protect Canadians from new variants of COVID-19 or other emerging public health threats,” federal Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos said Monday. in the morning
Passengers will no longer need to enter their health information through the ArriveCAN application, the use of which will be optional.
Consequently, travelers are no longer required to show their vaccination status. Mandatory random testing on arrival will also end on Saturday.
Minister Duclos declared that these significant changes “mean that the importation of cases of COVID and its variants will no longer significantly affect the evolution of the pandemic in Canada.”
“The high level of cases and hospitalizations is largely explained by domestic transmission of the virus – including up-to-date vaccination rates.”
Here are the sanitation measures lifted from 1er October
- Wearing mask is mandatory in trains and planes
- Enter your vaccination information in the ArriveCAN app
- Provide proof of vaccination upon arrival
- Take a screening test upon departure or arrival
- Quarantine if the test is positive on arrival
- Monitor symptoms upon arrival
