Passengers on a Flair Airlines flight scheduled to return to Ottawa Thursday evening were stranded in Mexico after the Canadian airline repeatedly canceled flights.
The 180 unlucky passengers, most of them Canadian, were shuttled between shuttles, gates and false starts before heading back to their hotels with instructions to try again the next day, CTV News reported.
“It takes about an hour for us to board, and then we sit in the plane for another hour and a half, two hours, and the navigation system still doesn't work,” lamented one of the passengers, Erica Carly.
The company said the delay was due to maintenance issues.
“We are working diligently to resolve these as quickly as possible,” said Matt Kunz, vice president of flight operations.
The company confirmed that affected passengers have been offered alternatives such as hotel reservations with other companies or return tickets.
“They never offered to buy other tickets,” said another passenger.
On Saturday afternoon, their flight was again canceled for the fourth time in a row.
“It's ridiculous, we have so many kids on the board,” Drew Cameron shouted from his seat. “Some are disabled, others have problems.”
