It took us a while to see the availability of game streaming services on smart TVs. LG was one of the first manufacturers to play the game by now hosting GeForce on the WebOS platform.
GeForce has announced a partnership with LG Nvidia to become the first smart TV maker to host a streaming game service. The webOS application will be available in beta in the coming days in 80 countries on the 4K TV (OLED, QNED Mini LED and NanoCell) option. It will now be the new platform for GeForce after Windows, macOS, Chrome OS, Android and Safari (for iOS and iPadOS).
Play PC games on your TV without a PC
Games played through the online service can display up to 60 FPS, but up to a maximum of 1080p. 4K remains a exclusive right to the Shield TV, Nvidia box. Three subscription plans are accessible on the webOS app: with the free but queue system, preferred for 1080p / 60 FPS (€ 49.99 / 6 months) and RTX 3080 (€ 99.99 / 6 months) for high quality graphics.
Unlike Microsoft’s Xbox cloud gaming service, GeForce NOW offers to stream the games we purchase, such as “Video Game Netflix” with hundreds of instantly playable titles, for example on Steam. Guardians of the Galaxy, Crisis Remastered Trio Or Rocket League And Destiny 2 Are suitable. It is still possible to try 35 free-to-play games.
Of course, you also need a good internet connection: at least 15 Mbps or 25 Mbps / 60 FPS for 720p / 60 FPS. The delay should also be less than 80ms, but Nvidia recommends less than 40ms for the best experience. Depending on the quality of the Wi-Fi connections on LG televisions (which is also the case with Samsung and others), the manufacturer recommends an Ethernet connection.
