Travelers hoping to bask under the Bahamas sun were forced to urgently get winter clothes, as a storm to the south diverted the Canadian chill.
Cruise line MSC changed its plans at the last minute due to “unusual and rapidly deteriorating weather conditions,” Global News reported.
Already in New York, many passengers had to face this change less than 24 hours before the departure of the “MSC Meraviglia” armed with their swimsuits and sunscreen.
This is the case of two friends, Lakeya Allen and Val Montgomery, who are somewhat disappointed with this new path.
“We’re from Chicago and we want climate change,” Ms. Allen said in an interview with Good Morning America. “I never thought we’d be back to cold weather.”
Even the mother had to go to a store to buy warm clothes for her children, who only had clothes to go to the beach.
“The complexities of securing last-minute berths for unscheduled ports and serving the ship on its new route made sailing to Canada and New England the only viable option,” Canadian media said.
So the passengers who agreed to leave left on Saturday as planned, but instead headed for Boston, before traveling to the port of Portland and St. John, New Brunswick, where they arrived on Thursday.
Passengers who did not wish to depart were able to receive cruise credit for the value of their trip to begin on an upcoming sea voyage.
