The expansion of automatic checkouts in supermarkets has provoked its share of reactions among consumers, but some of them have made no secret of their intention to eliminate checkouts with clerks altogether.

In the United States, companies such as Kroger and Walmart are testing in some of their branches.
With labor shortages, these companies are increasingly attracted to emerging technology.
Interviewed by NBC News, the owner of the grocery chain “Steve Leonard’s” noted that the majority of customers prefer simple checkouts.
However, the latter did not hide its satisfaction with the addition of automatic checkouts at its seven branches in the Greater New York area.
“Youngsters incorporate them into their habits and tend to use them more than adults. I don’t see a lot of gray hair near automatic checkouts,” Steve Leonard Jr. joked in an interview with NBC News.
“We have a cashier for the customer at regular checkouts. Here, there are two people for eight boxes. The ratio is 1 to 4.
In the comments section of the American media report, reactions were divided.
“I love that someone can go into the store and check out my items themselves without talking to anyone or touching all of my products,” said one internet user.
“If they give me a discount to use the self-checkout machines, I’m OK [de les utiliser]”, shares the user.
“For every cash register, one worker’s job is lost. It is for this reason that I refuse to use them,” said one man.
