Revenue Quebec announced on Friday that it is finalizing final preparations aimed at paying the expected amounts.

Individuals with a net income of $50,000 or less receive a one-time grant of $600. Those with net income between $50,000 and $100,000 are eligible for a minimum amount of $400. Individuals whose net income varies between $100,000 and $104,000 receive a lower amount based on their income.

Citizens do not need to take any action to avail financial assistance and the amount will be automatically paid by direct deposit or check to individuals who submit their 2021 income tax return.

According to the Collective for a Quebec Without Poverty, sending checks for $400 or $600 to counter the cost-of-living increase will not fight poverty in the long run, “creating a kind of bandwagon with inadequate and disproportionate measures”.
