How To Text Amazon Alexa From Your iPhone

You can now text with Alexa on your iPhone.

Todd Hazelton | CNBC

Amazon has recently started testing a new feature on the iPhone that allows you to text instead of talking to Alexa. You can use it to ask questions, order products from Amazon, call people and much more.

This is useful if you can not talk or do not like – when you are in bed next to your sleeping partner, still want to use Alexa to see something.

You can already communicate with Apple’s Siri and Google Assistant this way. If you like Alexa, this is a new way to communicate with it.

Here’s how to text with Alexa on your iPhone:

  • Download Amazon Alexa app From the App Store.
  • Download the Amazon Alexa app on your iPhone.
  • Tap the keyboard icon at the top left of the screen.
  • Type in your question and hit send.

Alexa responds and you can handle the conversation.

“How tall is the Empire State Building?” You can ask simple questions like. Or type Alexa “Call Steve” and ask people to call. You can also add things to your to-do list and control the smart gadgets in your home.

You may notice a message that says, “By the way, typing with me is part of the public preview, so I’m still turning it off.” That means new features can be added later.

I want to see more visual content‌ like pictures of the weather forecast when I ask the weather or different items that I can buy when I ask to shop anything. These are features that are already available on other screens with Alexa, such as Amazon’s Eco Show products.
