In “La Belle Tour”: “Madeleine Notes Helped Me Live Better,” Says Marie Denise Pelletier

Marie Denise Pelletier adopted Îles-de-la-Madeleine in 1979. After that she went there almost every year and lived there for several months of the year since meeting her lover who also resided there.

In the Magdalen Islands, the narrator filmed the 1988 clip for “Tous les Chris, les SOS” with his hair on fire in the wind. And “everything is in everything”, the house she stays in every time she steps foot in the archipelago is across the street from Klip’s White House. The latter also belonged to his brother-in-law!

In an interview with QMI Agency, Marie Denise Pelletier said, “My destiny is really tied to the islands, I have something to live there. She is the guest of the program “La Belle Tour” aired on TVA this Monday, an episode dedicated to the Madeleine’s little corner of paradise. Marie Denise Pelletier and Guy Jodoin’s other guests – Marie-Pierre Arthur, Louis Clavis and Ariane Moffat – traveled to the La Grave heritage site for the recording.

“I have been going there for 43 years. In 1980, I met my good friend Lucy, who became my roommate in Montreal. I go there almost every year and I know a lot of Madeleine. 8 years ago, my boyfriend introduced me to a resident. What a beautiful gift! Now, I live on the islands three to five months a year,” says Marie Denise Pelletier.

Of course, she likes the white sand beaches and the food, but what really draws her in is the Madelinotes. “Their way of life and their way of looking at life. I’ve always said that Medinotes helped me live better. They’re in the present moment, they have a sense of celebration, they have a great sense of pride. I love these people, they’re so welcoming, it’s so human-level. For reasons and many more, the food is absolutely great, I also have great friends there and my boyfriend’s family is there. It’s my second home.”

40 years ago this year, Marie Denis Pelletier won the Festival Internationale de la Chanson de Granby. It then took her three years to train, participate in other competitions and prepare to hatch, and in 1985 her first 45 rpm, “Échec et mat”, was released, followed by her first album, “Premier Contact”. and “Starmania,” a musical in which she played Stella Spotlight. Since then, she’s made her living on stage, with no shortage of projects, especially since signing with Productions Martin Leclerc, which is how lucky she is to hold on at 62.

Due to the resumption of festivals, Marie Denise Pelletier has been very busy this summer on the “Pour Une Histoire d’Un Soir” tour with her friends Joe Bocan and Marie Carmen. Although the pandemic disrupted their schedule, they received a silver ticket for selling 25,000 tickets.

“We’re so happy we have another year. Making people happy is our real salary, knowing that we can touch people every night is very rewarding.

Next year, Marie Denise Pelletier will present a new opus and go on a solo tour in 2024.

“We stop in April 2023, the girls and me. We’re going to ignore our lives, but our friendship will survive, that’s for sure. We finished with the Orchester Symphonique de Québec at the Grand Théâtre de Québec, there will be a recording of the performance, so the disc will arrive.
