An American tourist was killed when an elephant ran over a vehicle while on safari in Zambia's Kafue National Park.
In a video shared on social networks, we can see an African pachyderm loading a coach with a group of six passengers.
The vehicle overturned due to the collision. Two passengers were injured and taken to hospital. One of them, an 80-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries.
The remaining four tourists are being treated for minor injuries.
A helicopter was deployed to evacuate the passengers to safe areas.
“Our guides are all well trained and experienced, but unfortunately the terrain and vegetation blocked the driver's path and he was no longer able to get the vehicle to safety quickly enough,” said Wilderness Zambia Group CEO Keith Vincent.
“This is a tragic incident and we extend our condolences to the family of the deceased passenger,” he added.
