Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel: Another complete closure at the end of the week

Motorists in the Greater Montreal area will once again have to be patient, as the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel will be completely closed toward the South Shore again this weekend.

Therefore, Highway 25 will be closed on Saturday, May 7, from 5 to 5 p.m., between 12:30 a.m. between Montreal Exit (Downtown) / J-Cartier Bridge and Route 132.

The entrance from Sherbrook Street East will be closed on Friday, May 6 at 11:30 pm, while the entrance from Soulignie Avenue East will remain open.

Charle Charron is available at all times and it is possible to access Highway 20 from the island.

Full closures are also planned for the A-25 between Montreal (Downtown) / Pont J. – Cartier departure and Île Charron from 11pm to 5am throughout the week.

The demolition of the concrete screed on the right side of the Southbound Tunnel and the demolition work in the service corridor would be a headache for motorists if this closure was necessary.

These road works have already caused a significant slowdown over the past weekend as access to the south coast is mainly via the Jacques-Cartier Bridge.

The situation will continue for the next few weeks, as the Minister des Transports du Quebec (MTQ) has already announced that the tunnel will be closed to the south for the weekend from May 13-16.
