First brought to court by the Human Rights Commission in 2015, the case went through all levels of the Canadian legal system before the Supreme Court of Canada finally ruled in favor of the comedian in 2021.

Although Ward said this story originated from “Successful,” a recent episode of the podcast What’s Up Podcast Of Jer Alain, he admits that the saga left a significant hole in his bank account.

Ward often talks about the astronomical costs of his defense, but many wonder about the total size.

According to the podcast host Listen below, In all, his legal fees totaled $450,000.

However, he claims that about $50,000 has been raised for him through fundraising and that his manager, Michele Grenier, has covered 20% of the costs.

When asked if Jer Alain turned him into a saga, Ward replied, “It’s his age.”

“It left human scars. Ironically, not much.

He said it took him two years to become the person he was before the lawsuit.

As for his faith in the justice system, Mike Ward says nothing has changed.

I have never had faith in the legal system.
