The 1,136,000 doses received will be distributed among the various provinces in the next few days, Public Services and Supplies Minister Philomina Tassi said on Tuesday.

“It allows children 5 to 11 years of age in Canada to receive their second dose as soon as they qualify.” The Government of Canada will work with the provinces to distribute the doses as soon as possible, ”the ministry said in a statement.

“As a parent I am excited about the arrival of this second batch of pediatric doses. Therefore, more young Canadians will be able to be vaccinated, which will help reduce COVID-19 transmission over the holidays, ”said Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos.

By doing so, Canada has now vaccinated 2.9 million doses of children aged 5 to 11 years – enough to give all of them immunity for the first time.
