An unscrupulous Montreal mechanic who recalled odometers before selling them must immediately cease his commercial activities following an injunction issued by the Superior Court a few days ago.
On August 3, the Superior Court had issued a permanent injunction ordering Fareeh Soleimani and Auto Fareeh Business to stop dealing in road vehicles without the required permit under the Consumer Protection Act, “to stop the false claim that road vehicles have no mileage. Contain”.
On March 9, the Office of Consumer Protection (OPC) deputy president canceled the road vehicle dealer’s license issued to Auto Fareeh because “the company is no longer able to conduct its business activities honestly and efficiently”.
Two months later, Mr. Soleimani and Auto Fareeh were served with 31 counts of altering odometers without adjusting them to show true mileage, using non-compliant contracts when selling vehicles and neglecting to attach a glass label to the contract.
“Failure to comply with such prohibition constitutes contempt of court, punishable with imprisonment,” the OPC recalled.
