It is no longer necessary to go to SAAQ offices to renew a health insurance card, the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ) announced Thursday.

Quebecers are invited to renew their health insurance card by filling out a form they will receive by mail. No need to add a photograph, RAMQ will use the one already in the file.
This is a temporary measure aimed at preventing citizens from going to the SAAQ service point.

For several weeks, Crown Corporation’s offices have been overwhelmed by the difficult transition of services to the SAAQclic digital platform.
People whose health insurance card is more than 6 months old must call RAMQ to get a new one. If it’s been less than 6 months since the card expired, use the renewal notice received by mail.
If this notice is lost, it can be ordered online at the RAMQ website.
