In the last few days, Minister Sonia Bélanger, spokesperson for Health and Seniors, discussed the suspension with CISSS President and CEO. Earlier on Monday she responded by saying “we will meet the administrators involved in the processing of the file”.
The young nurse, who wished to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals, is to be suspended today, as well as on December 9 and 11.
In the suspension letter obtained by Le Journal, we can read that this theft of food intended for residents is “a serious violation of your obligations of loyalty and honesty” to the Management of Nursing Care in the Integrated Health Center and Social Services (CISSS), on December 1.
According to the Union Federation Interprofessionnelle de la Santé (FIQ), which represents the nurse concerned, the sanction is too severe for the fault.
The management of CISSS met with the employee on the matter on November 3 and got a version of facts. The nurse admitted that she ate the toast because she had a “stomach ache” and didn’t have time to eat before work. She also mentioned that she “didn’t know” it was banned.
