Pierre Bruno, a 46-year-old anchor at TVA, will retire on June 16.
The journalist made the announcement in a 5pm bulletin on Thursday evening. He says he is now ready for a “feel-good retirement”.
However, this fall viewers will find him in another role in the provincial election campaign.
“I am still passionate about the job. Coming to work is not always a task, it is a daily pleasure. But after coming to light in TVA for 45 years, 50 years in journalism, I have been enjoying some shadow and life with Janet and my family. I am healthy, and even more so, I have normal happiness in my life, ”he said.

Furthermore, Pierre Bruno continues to be an inspirer, organizer and spokesperson for the Charles-Bruno Foundation.

Pierre Carl Peladeu, interim president and CEO of Group TVA, paid tribute to Pierre Bruno in a press release.
“Pierre, you are an extraordinary person who is respected by your peers and loved by the people. It has been an honor to count you in a large Cubacore family for the past 46 years. Thanks to your passion and your professionalism, you have been able to take the TVA news service to new heights, ”he said.
Mr. Péladeau emphasized the “very special bond” that the news anchor had succeeded in forming with “Quebecars of all generations”.
“It’s an integral part of their daily lives, with each evening being tough, relevant and humane.”
Pierre Bruno began his career as a journalist at CFDA Radio in Victoriaville in 1972. After working for CJTR Trois-Rivieres Radio, he worked at CKAC Montreal from 1973 to 1980.
He joined TVA (then Télé-Métropole) in 1976 as a news anchor.
Since 1978, he has run the TVA 12h reins as well as the LCN and TVA’s 4:30 pm, 5pm and 6pm bulletins.
