Quebecers are just as stressed at work as they are at home

More than a quarter of Quebecers and Canadians say they feel stressed at work and outside of work, according to a recent study published Thursday.

A mental health index from wellness solutions provider LifeWorks shows an even split between Canadians who cite work as the main source of stress and personal stress.

According to a LifeWorks study, 77% of respondents believe that the two sources of stress are professional and personal, while 25% believe that the volume of work is the main cause of stress.

One of the consequences of stress is that 31% experience sleep problems, 28% say they are unable to rest and almost as many people experience emotional changes.

In terms of mental health, it’s still dangerous, but Quebec’s score has continued to decline since March, settling at 65.6 points in June, compared to the Canadian average of 64.1 points.

Conversely, employees who received support from their employer during the pandemic had the highest mental health scores, with 51% encouraging work flexibility and 41% encouraging mental health resources.
