Quebec police deny ignoring concerns of merchants on Myrand Avenue in Quebec. They have been plagued by thefts and burglaries in recent months.

“The investigation on our side is ongoing, explained Sandra Dion. Obviously, when there are violations or not [s’]A sector where many crimes are committed, there is surveillance, patrolling is done. »

For its part, the SPVQ can confirm that one file was opened in July and another is on the way.

In the right direction

After the story was published, the owner of the KRWN barbershop, Maxime Bellemare, was finally contacted by an investigator Monday morning. “We’re headed in the right direction,” he says.

The businessman also understood a little better why his history of thefts was forgotten. On July 17, when the thief returned, the owner should have called 9-1-1.

“My intention when I called was to assist in the investigation. My file was already open, I never thought to call 9-1-1. »

The next day, he tried to file with the investigator for several hours without getting an answer.

He kept the pictures posted on the website Log.

serious concerns

The incidents follow the first series of burglaries in May, which raised serious concerns among many traders.

During that time, the SPVQ confirmed that more than a dozen theft files had been opened.

We then learned that police had arrested two suspects, a 50-year-old man and a 43-year-old man, after breaking and entering a business on Chemin Saint-Foy.

Investigators suspect they are linked to several robberies in the Rue Myrand area. They were interrogated and released on a promise to appear.
