A fourth problem in four days paralyzed the Riso Express Metropolitan (REM) on Saturday between Panama and Île-des-Sœurs stations. The warming temperature actually caused snow to fall on the track.
The suspension was announced on REM X's account at around 2:30pm on Saturday.
“The object on the track will cause service disruption on the network between Panama and Île-des-Sœurs stations. Bus service is available between these two stations. Normal service will gradually resume at 2:45 pm,” we read in the first update.
Ultimately, the REM onset time continued to be pushed back and eventually activity resumed gradually at 4:45 pm.
The restoration of service took longer than expected, particularly because a snow removal team needed to be brought in to secure the structure of the Samuel-de-Champlain Bridge, where the snow was falling, the REM account said.
