Ahead of Ottawa’s scheduled technical briefing, TVA Novelles set an August 9 deadline to reopen the Ottawa land border to Americans, according to what it learned and discovered early Monday.

Only permanent residents, those who have been double-vaccinated and those who have taken the COVID test three days before their arrival are eligible.

Our neighbors in the South who want to go to Canada and meet the standards no longer have to submit customs officers with the necessary reasons for their travels.

Last Thursday, Justin Trudeau presented a plan to reopen to his regional colleagues.

Second is the return of fully vaccinated American tourists to Canada in mid-August, while travelers from other countries can visit Canada from early September.

The plan was welcomed by regional premieres who recently discussed the details of reopening the borders with the Justin Trudeau team.

Everything is conditional on reaching Canada’s vaccine goals and on the health conditions under control in the country.
