In a video posted on the social network TikTok, user @livingminnaly condemned the tipping culture that is spreading at high speed.

She assures that she has no problem tipping when the service is provided, when buying meals in restaurants, cafes or even hair salons.

“In 2024, I won't be tipping anything anymore,” she reiterated.

Her anger came after a trip to a retail store where the American bought a greeting card for one of her loved ones.

Arriving at the self-service checkout, she said she tipped before completing the transaction.

“The tipping culture has gotten out of hand to the point where I go into a retail store and buy a greeting card. […] I was advised a 20% tip,” she says.

Here are some of the reactions in the comments following publication of the abstract:

“I booked a hotel room online and asked for a tip. Who do I give it to? To the website? This is crazy!”

“I only tip on delivery, beauty treatments and restaurants.”
