Shazam It! Apple is ready to add the app to the iPhone Control Center in the upcoming iOS 14.2

Apple acquired the music discovery app Shazam in 2018, but has not done much to push it into the public – so far.

The tech giant has released a beta of iOS 14.2 for developers to test, revealing that it will be toggled at the Shazam Control Center.

The app has been available for iOS for a while, but users will have to call Siri to open it or open the app manually and a notification will appear that the selected song has been played.

When enabled the feature detects music in the surrounding area and when the user is wearing headphones.

Apple releases beta of iOS 14.2 to developers for testing, reveals toggle in Shazam control center

Apple bought a UK-based app two years ago that allowed users to point their smartphone at an audio source to determine if a song was playing.

Apple did not give a price for the purchase, but previous reports said the iPhone maker paid $ 400 million, which is far less than the recent $ 1 billion estimate for privately owned Shazam.

Shazam helps people find, communicate and share video, audio or printed content on devices and media – and allows music fans to follow their favorite artists and share in the thrill of innovation.

However, after the acquisition, Apple put the app away and many users may have forgotten that it existed.

Now, developers testing beta iOS 14.2 spotting, a key component of the Control Center, 9to5Mac Reports.

The toggle looks like the iconic Shazam app, which detects music users listening through headphones.

Users can open the control center, tap the toggle and a notification will appear on the screen with the song name, album cover and ‘Listen to Apple Music’ option.
