The Soulpepper Theatre Company’s The Brothers Sizing took house five trophies at this year’s Dora Mavor Moore Awards.

Also among the big winners was The Mush Gap, from Kaha:wi Dance Theatre and introduced by Young People’s Theatre, which swept the youthful audiences division with five awards.
Coal Mine Theatre’s Marjorie Primary racked up three awards in the independent theatre class, which include best generation.
Rusalka, presented by Opera Canada, gained a leading four wins in the opera classification. The Indigenous opera Shanawdithit, co-made by Tapestry Opera and Opera on the Avalon, also acquired a trophy for most effective new opera.
In the dance division, Rock Bottom Movement’s hollow mountain and the Nationwide Ballet of Canada’s Angels’ Atlas — part of a triple monthly bill with Chroma and Marguerite and Armand — took household two awards apiece.
Whilst the 2019-2020 period was truncated by the COVID-19 pandemic, organizers say 160 productions were suitable for the awards recognizing excellence in Toronto theatre, dance and opera.
