On July 29, analysts at marketing firm Yard released a dossier on the CO2 emissions of celebrity private jets, noting that the Shake It Off singer flew 170 flights between January 1 and July 19.

Calling Taylor Swift ‘the biggest celebrity CO2 polluter this year so far’, the site says the total annual emissions for her flights are 8,293.54 tons, or 1,184.8 times the total annual emissions of the average person (understand who travels by private jet, by public transport, for example).

Taylor Swift’s rep posted a response in which he insisted the popstar had “loaned” the plane to other people. “Taylor’s jet is regularly loaned out to other people. To attribute most or all of these tours to him would be a mistake,” he commented in Rolling Stone.

Floyd Mayweather, Jay-Z, Blake Shelton, Steven Spielberg, Kim Kardashian and Mark Wahlberg are also on the list of heavy polluters.

Drake, meanwhile, also came under fire recently when it was revealed that he used his private jet for short distances (including a 14-minute flight). The rapper claims he was not on the plane at the time. “Planes are being moved to whatever airport they are parked at,” he commented under a post from the Real Toronto News’ Instagram account referencing the controversy. “Nobody’s gonna take this flight,” Drake assured.
