Giving birth can be an incredible experience, but it can also come with some hiccups and complications. That’s why hospitals invest millions of dollars in providing top-notch pregnancy and birthing care. Unfortunately, all of that effort and money go to waste if you can’t make it to the hospital in time. Pregnancy can be difficult to plan and oftentimes it seems like the baby has a mind of its own. This has led to several instances where childbirth has happened outside of the comfort a hospital can provide.

1. The Casino

Gambling can be a fun and relaxing experience and casinos are one of the top choices for gambling-related activities. However, the fun can come to a quick halt if you happen to go into labor while playing various online slots. Something similar happened to an eight-month pregnant woman that just wanted to enjoy a night at the casino. Luckily several security guards were nearby and they were able to assist with the delivery. She certainly went home with a different kind of jackpot that night. Online casinos provide several advantages over their brick-and-mortar counterparts. These include the lack of any fashion requirements and the ability to play from just about anywhere. And now you can add “not having a baby on the casino floor” as an additional benefit.

2. Walmart

Convenience stores pride themselves on what they can provide their customers and now you can add child birthing services to the list. A woman was doing some shopping in her local Walmart when she suddenly went into labor in the toilet paper aisle. Fortunately for her, a labour nurse was shopping nearby and with the help of a few employees, the baby was delivered without issue.

3. Chick-Fil-A Bathroom

Chick-Fil-A is known for a lot of things, but providing childbirth services is not one of them. That didn’t prevent a couple from having a surprise birth in one of the fast-food joint’s restrooms. The couple had stopped at the restaurant to drop off their other kids before heading to the hospital, but the baby had other plans. The couple made use of the small bathroom and delivered a healthy baby girl.

Chick-Fil-A employees helped out by providing towels and giving the couple their space. To celebrate the birth, the fast-food chain gave the baby free food for life as well as a guaranteed job when she turns 14.

4. An Uber

Uber is a pretty great service that has revolutionized the way many of us travel. And now it’s changing the way we give birth. One Uber driver went above and beyond his duty and helped coach a couple through childbirth when the woman suddenly went into labor. The incident even has a video of the driver encouraging and directing the couple through the process. Eventually, the couple got to the hospital with a baby in their hands and quite a story to tell.

Giving birth is a pretty intense process even with all of the medical advancements and comforts that can be provided. So going into childbirth without any of that can be even more hectic and challenging. Fortunately, with the help of employees, security guards, and off-duty nurses, these incidents went over well and provide a great story to tell. But in the end, the moral of these stories is to plan for the unexpected.
