The New Yorker fired author Jeffrey Tobin after the Zoom incident

NEW YORK – New York longtime staff writer Jeffrey Tobin has been fired for revealing himself at a zoom meeting last month. He is already in suspension and is on leave from CNN, where he is the Chief Legal Analyst.

“I was fired today in New York after 27 years as a staff writer. I will always love the magazine, lose my colleagues and look forward to reading their writings.” Tobin tweeted Wednesday.

In a company memo, Cond Nast Chief People’s Officer Stan Duncan wrote, “The investigation into Jeffrey Tobin has been completed and as a result he is not affiliated with our company.”

“We want to reassure everyone that we take office matters seriously. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels respectful and justifies our standards of conduct,” Duncan said.

Tobin, 60, is one of the country’s foremost legal writers and commentators. He writes about everything from the OJ Simpson assassination trial for the New Yorker, a former associate lawyer in the Justice Department, to President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.

He has been with CNN since 2002 and is the author of several books, most recently “True Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Investigation of Donald Trump” published in August. His 1996 book, “The Run of His Life: The People v. OJ Simpson,” was adapted into an FX series.
