Montreal, one of the most affected cities in the country since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, is quietly recovering.

When the third wave hit, the regional public health department was of the opinion that the metropolis was on the right track.

Montreal Regional Director of Public Health, d^Back Mylon Drouin said on Wednesday that she was “proud” of the current situation, with the number of COVID-19 cases being relatively stable.

Over the past 14 days, 4,100 Montreals tested positive for COVID-19, which dropped from March 30 to April 12 (4,900 cases) and March 16 to 29 (4,270 cases).

Vaccination is going well

The d^Back Drouin also expressed satisfaction at the progress of the vaccine campaign. To date, more than 75% of those aged 60 and over have received one or another dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

“In addition to reaching our regional goal, we have also succeeded in reducing social inequalities in health so that there is no difference in vaccine coverage at this level for those aged 60 and over.^{To me} Droin.
