The Quebec economy grew 0.9% in the third quarter, compared to 0.6% in the previous quarter, the Quebec Statistics Institute said on Wednesday.
On an annualized basis, the agency attributed the acceleration to third-quarter growth of 3.5%, driven by rising household expenditure and total exports of goods and services.
In comparison, Canadian GDP grew by 1.3% in the third quarter after declining 0.8% in the second quarter.
In Quebec, domestic demand rose 0.8% in the most recent quarter, after growing 1.1% in the previous quarter, the Statistical Institute said.
Exports of the province’s total goods and services grew by 2.2% in the third quarter, mainly due to a 5.6% increase in ex-provincial services exports and a 2.1% increase in international goods exports.
For their part, total imports of goods and services from Quebec increased by 1.3% in the third quarter.
