Faced with the arrival of the Omicron variant, health officials have tightened testing procedures for entry into the United States in December 2021. All passengers over the age of 2, boarding a flight to the United States from abroad, were required to submit a negative test. Less than a day before takeoff, regardless of their vaccine status.

Presiding over the presidency, Kevin Munoz announced on Twitter that it was lifting the requirement, with health officials continuing to “assess needs based on the context of the science and the circulation of variants”.

According to the American media, the expiration of the liability will take effect on Sunday.

On the other hand, the government did not specify at this stage whether the vaccine would be responsible for non-resident foreigners entering the United States.

Many other countries, especially in Europe, have already discontinued pre-boarding testing from international travelers.

Following a court ruling in April, the mandatory wearing of masks on public transport and especially on airplanes was abolished.

The United States is currently registering more than 100,000 new cases of COVID-19 per day, with experts estimating that number is even lower. A recent increase is associated with Omicron sub-variants.

Nearly 300 people die from the disease every day in the country, but health officials are now highlighting the many remedies available, including vaccines, but the antiviral pox‌lovid was also present when the infection occurred.

Lifting of restrictions Strong demand from the financial sector, especially airlines, is anxious to return to normalcy.

“We believe we have made the progress needed to lift this obligation, and I think this is good news for business travel, as well as for American trade and companies,” said Brian Dees, CNBC’s top financial adviser to President Joe Biden.

Airlines 4 America, the Federation of American Airlines, welcomed the government’s decision in a press release, saying it would “help promote and revitalize flights in the United States, whose economy is largely dependent on travel and tourism.”

“We look forward to welcoming the millions of travelers who are ready to come to the United States for vacation, business or just to reunite with loved ones,” said President Nicolas Calio.
