“Strangely Tesla was not invited,” Elon Musk tweeted, responding to a post on the subject.

“I’m not saying it’s destruction. But it’s destruction,” Elon Musk tweeted in response to the CNBC video.

The leader of Tesla, a 100% electric car manufacturer, was surprised not to be one of the guests at the White House ceremony held Thursday afternoon by the American president to promote the electric car.

“Today, UAW (United Auto Workers, Powerful American Automobile Union, Editor’s Note) and Joe Biden are the three largest owners of the standing UAW President,” White House responded at the door. Jen Saki, at his daily press conference.

Did the White House know to exclude Elon Musk, who had publicly opposed the unions from the event? These three major players in the UAW. So I leave you to make your own decision, ”Jen Saki asked during a press briefing.

Tesla has a long-standing dispute with the UAW, which complained in 2017 that their union had fired workers for sympathy. And last March, the US agency responsible for labor law (NLRB) made a decision unfavorable to the manufacturer.

Joe Biden has always been eager to promise “good pay and union jobs”, so he mobilized a powerful UAW union with his initiative in favor of electric vehicles.

However, “she did not expect this to be the last time we talked about clean cars (…) and we look forward to having a range of partners in this endeavor,” Jen Saki pointed out.

“We appreciate the efforts of automakers to recognize the potential of the electric vehicle in the future and to help achieve the President’s goal. And certainly Tesla is one of those companies,” she added.
