Three competing Michael Jackson songs have been removed from streaming platforms

Three Michael Jackson songs that have long been at the center of controversy over the true identity of their performer have been removed from streaming platforms, Sony and the late singer’s heirs said Wednesday.

“Breaking News”, “Monster” and “Keep Your Head Up” appear on the album “Michael”, released in 2010, a year and a half after the American star died of a cardiac arrest.

Some fans claim that the vocals on these tracks are actually from American singer Jason Malachi, which Sony has denied.

The record company and rights holders explained that they decided to withdraw the songs because “it was the easiest and best way to put the controversy surrounding this song behind us”.

They assured in a joint press release that the decision has nothing to do with the authenticity of these titles.

The other seven titles of the collection are available.

“Michael” is billed as an album of unreleased songs the pop icon reportedly worked on in 2007.

But some of his fans, and even family members, expressed their doubts, forcing Sony to defend the authenticity of the voice.

According to TMZ, Jason Malachi admitted to the facts in a 2011 Facebook post — his manager later claimed the post was fake.
