Passengers used insults to express their displeasure at Toronto Pearson Airport, one of the country’s most important airports, at the end of several delays to collect their luggage.
According to a recent video shared on social networks, several passengers shouted “F*** you Sunwing” after waiting for a long time to collect their suitcases.
Other people have also complained that their flights are being delayed or cancelled, a situation that is likely to get more complicated this holiday season.
Airports in Calgary and Edmonton, Alta., were also hit by repeated cancellations and delays between Sunday and Monday, Global News reported.
At least half of the flights out of Calgary on Monday were delayed or canceled. Traffic has also been affected. At the Edmonton airport, nearly half of inbound flights were delayed or canceled.
Domestic flights, particularly to Winnipeg, Montreal and Victoria, and international flights, to the United States or Cancun, are similarly affected. It’s the same for airlines: WestJet, Air Canada, Sunwing, Swoop and Flair have also experienced delays and cancellations.
Airports are just recovering from the effects of the pandemic, with rising passenger numbers and persistent staff shortages.
Additionally, much of western and southern Alberta is experiencing severe cold and wind warnings for Monday.
