Like conspiracy theorists at the height of the pandemic, anti-trams have been unleashed on social networks this week, rotting the web with defamatory comments, each one getting worse, especially following the publication of former Quebec mayoral candidate, Anne Guéret.

Asked why she didn’t remove them, we confronted the content of the vile comments we found under his publication.

I contacted Anne Gueret, turned columnist on CHOI Radio X, yesterday morning to find out her position and intentions regarding these nasty comments about me.

M^me Guerret proceeded to tell me that she had said in this publication that she completely disagreed with my comments in a column in LCN. She admitted that she saw the comments last night before going to bed, “that it wasn’t very pretty”, but that she had “other things to do”, that she was “never in moderation” and that she wasn’t in control. Then she adds that she has intervened a few times in the past, but “may have gotten away with it.”

Even the former mayoral candidate told me she “doesn’t even know these people”, she “even eats them occasionally” and “don’t worry about it anymore”. “But if I can help you, I’ll be happy.”

No insults, no arguments

For example, in a post that had about 150 comments early Friday, many men called me a pig, an empty jug, thick, tart, cocksucker, etc.

My physical appearance was attacked, my credibility and my professionalism were attacked, but never without any argument. People insult me ​​profusely and vomit contempt, attacking me for being a woman. A consistency: everything communicated has nothing to do with the discussion of ideas. We are in an easy and frightening situation, hiding behind a curtain.

Contrary to what M claims^me Guerret, “Don’t worry about it anymore” is not a good idea. On the contrary, we really need to deal with it and take steps to stop it.

This includes moderating comments under our publications, deleting them if necessary, and blocking people who insult instead of arguing. A few hours after my call, many of the comments were deleted, but the insults remained.
