Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 8:32 AM – The fifth tropical storm of the year Elsa continues its path over US lands. Although it is expected to release large amounts of water to our neighbors in the south, its effects could extend as far as Quebec.
From Tuesday to Wednesday night, Elsa was reduced to a tropical cyclone phase. The system will make a landfall in northwest Florida early Wednesday morning. For the fifth game of the Montreal Canadians in Tampa Bay, there will be a risk of rain and thunderstorms in the evening, with temperatures hovering above 25 C. Note that thunderstorms can be particularly violent and the possibility of a tornado off the west coast of Florida is currently under surveillance. Floods are also possible.
At the time of writing, the system is moving north at a speed of 22 km per hour, with winds blowing at a speed of 100 km per hour. Against this backdrop, up to 230 mm of rainfall is expected till Friday, while the storm is expected to reach 1.5 m.
Effects in Quebec
On her journey to our neighbors in the south, Elsa brings moisture to Quebec. Its humidity passes through Belle Province from Thursday to Friday. A good amount of rain will fall until Saturday, which will be up to 75 mm. On Thursday, along with nest thunderstorms, there will be continuous rain.
