Energy Cardio announced Friday that it is closing its branches in Lebourgneuf and Charlesbourg, Quebec, immediately, leaving only its dedicated women's gym in Saint-Foy open.

The Charlesbourg and Lebourgneuf branches originally filed for bankruptcy on Friday, according to authorized trustee Bresse's website.
“Prior to the closure the management of the center has taken necessary arrangements to stop direct debits from the customers of the centre,” the online notice stated.
In a message to its members, Énergie Cardio cited “significant financial issues” facing the company to justify closing its facilities.
The company filed for protection under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Act in early February.
The consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic and health measures were cited to explain the company's financial difficulties.
The chain previously closed its Beauport branch in January and the Vanier branch in November. Other gyms affiliated with the banner have also closed their doors across Quebec.
After closing in Beauport and Vanier, EconoFitness quickly filled the void by opening new training rooms.
