Union members reportedly vandalized Bonardell's office

Second, on Tuesday, the union immediately denied information that members of the Union Public and Para Public Service of Quebec (SFPQ) had robbed the office of Transport Minister Franకోois Bonardell.

“Earlier today, members of @SFPQ_Syndicat broke into my county office, intimidated and threatened two of my employees, stole goods and carried out acts of vandalism,” the CAQ minister lamented on his Twitter account.

“I strongly condemn this disgusting and unjust gesture and we will report it to the police. There is no place for this kind of behavior here or anywhere and I want SFPQ to bring its members in order,” the MP continued.

However, the SFPQ has a completely different view of events.

“Signs and posters have been erected on the windows of the constituency office and can be easily removed. Members stormed the office with dignity and calm. There were no thefts, threats or vandalism, ”the union said.

The event comes the day after the announcement of a week-long strike affecting about 26,000 civil servants from June 13 to 17.

The SFPQ and the government are in talks to renew the collective agreement for civil servants, which expires in March 2020.

Organized workers have already been on strike for several days since the beginning of spring. They took advantage of the CAQ Convention in Drummondville in late May to make their demands heard.
