Giant Walmart will reportedly build its first $100 million Quebec fulfillment center in Vaudreuil-Dorion. News magazine.
“Walmart Canada has not requested or received any government funding to date for its new processing center in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec,” said spokesman Steve Azoulay.
Located in the heart of Monteregi, the new center will cover an area of approximately 44,456 m2 with “high-tech sorting capabilities”.2.
More than 225 jobs were created
Along with the labor required for its construction, more than 225 jobs will be created.
The multinational company plans to use the new center as a hub for its customers here and in the Atlantic provinces. It is scheduled to open in 2024. It can transport more than 20 million items per year.
$1 billion in investments
With this new strategic building, Walmart hopes to provide better product availability and improve customer experience both in-store and online by providing them with faster service.
“We know this is a difficult time for our customers. That is why we are proud to announce such significant investments,” said JP Suarez, Senior Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and Regional Chief Executive Officer, Walmart International.
This year, Walmart plans to renovate 17 stores in Quebec. Across Canada, investments reach $1 billion.
In Quebec, Walmart has 71 stores and employs 14,500 workers. In one year, the company purchased $3.2 billion worth of products from 500 Quebec suppliers.
