Rutherford said in an official statement on Wednesday: “It is a great privilege to be the GM of the Penguins. The owners, including Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkill, have a lot to thank me for starting with President David Morhouse. “I knew it was a little unusual during the campaign, but I thought the departure time was right,” the 71-year-old added, citing personal reasons.
