Jim Rutherford, who resigned as general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday, did not approve of preventing the Quebec defenseman from completing a transaction involving Christopher Letang.

Rutherford said in an official statement on Wednesday: “It is a great privilege to be the GM of the Penguins.
