Longueil residents may be banned from building wood fires in their backyards by next summer.

Longueil Mayor, Sylvie Parent, announced her intention to ban wood fires outside the entire city of more than 230,000 residents during the last municipal council on February 16th.

The Borough of Saint-Hubert, seeks a more serious framework, but is not currently banned.

Also note that the cities of Montreal, Saint-Bruno-de-Monterville, Boucherville and Brosard have banned open wood fires.
